Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced, mission-oriented, and values-driven Resource Development Manager to oversee our fundraising activities. The ideal candidate will be proactive, demonstrate excellent written and verbal communication, and be a skilled project and relationship manager. The Resource Development Manager will play a critical role in powering the organization’s current and future initiatives.

Work Schedule: 40 hours per week, Monday – Friday; some weekend and evening work as needed

Classification: Exempt

Location: Remote

Salary: The expected salary range is $77-90k annually

Reports To: Founder and President; works in close collaboration with Chief of Staff

TRAVEL: 15-20%

Core Responsibilities

The Resource Development Manager will oversee and implement Define American’s fundraising strategy.

• Manage grant calendar, including meeting, proposal, renewal, and reporting processes, for active and prospective funders.
• Write proposals, reports, and funder communications, leveraging the existing knowledge base and working in collaboration with other staff members.
• Engage internal and external stakeholders to contribute to fundraising strategy, and lead prospect identification; maintain an entrepreneurial approach to opportunities.
• Coordinate individual and corporate giving campaigns and initiatives, including events, and contribute to in-kind and earned revenue generation opportunities.
• Maintain donor database and documentation of all fundraising materials and activities.
• As appropriate, manage relationships and engagements with contractors supporting fundraising efforts.

• Demonstrated record of securing major institutional funding and building relationships with institutional funders, as well as experience with individual and/or corporate engagement

• Exceptional time management skills and an ability to organize and coordinate multiple concurrent projects
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills, and detail orientation
• Proficiency with office productivity and data management tools
• Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work in a team environment, as well as the ability to fully own and drive forward work independently
• Comfortable and self-directed working within ambiguity and maintaining flexibility; inspired by challenges
• Ability to maintain confidentiality at all times
