The Dream Center at the University of Utah is looking for a dedicated and proactive individual to support the center as program coordinator. The Dream Center in the division of Equity Diversity and Inclusion works holistically with undocumented students and mixed-status families from college access to graduation. The program coordinator will assist the center’s efforts to provide students with a rich college experience through social engagement and academic support while preparing students for post-graduation success. The program coordinator will work closely in a collaborative environment with students, staff, faculty, partner education institutions, local communities, governmental agencies, business representatives, and the public. This is an excellent opportunity for individuals who are seeking to polish their skills in student affair issues and support students with undocumented and first-generation backgrounds. This candidate will gain experience in the areas of program development and implementation, ally ship training, policy, law, academic success, and current research on college access and student success. Coordinator should demonstrate sensitivity and understanding to serve students from a broad range of cultural heritages, academic standing, socioeconomic backgrounds, sexuality, genders, and abilities Ability to design programming components and services Skilled at prioritizing work, making good judgments about priorities, scheduling and completing assignments without direct supervision, and able to work on multiple assignments at one time Able to follow through with responsibilities during times of high activity and competing demands for time Able to provide a welcoming and helpful environment for students and visitors and present a positive and professional image of the office while working in a relaxed environment Develop cultural knowledge of others through cultural humility and empathy Be able to identify the different support systems available on-campus and off-campus from the student population we serve Indicate university policies and procedures that relate to student safety, privacy, and confidentiality Understand the connections and ongoing collaborations between our Dream Center and our Division of Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion amongst other campus partners Experience in public speaking, assessment and preparation, oral and written communication, and program planning Work independently but also work as part of the team, be able to collaborate, train, and lead.
