Position Overview

Inclusive Action is seeking two self-motivated and experienced Business Coaches (part-time) to support Inclusive Action’s Access to Capital initiatives with a focus on supporting loan clients, answering client inquiries, and coaching low-income entrepreneurs in skill building, business growth and business formalization including of street vending businesses.

The Business Coach will work closely with IAC’s outreach team (focused on loan pipeline development), loan underwriting teams (focused on reviewing loan applications), and policy team (focused on implementing street vendor and microbusiness related policies), . This role will also monitor the effectiveness of assistance offered, coordinate internal and external resources as necessary, and ensure that each client receives high-quality service and care.

This position requires an energetic individual who has excellent oral presentation skills and is excited to work with a wide range of community members. The Business Coach is a part-time (28 hrs/week), 6-month temporary position, with the opportunity to extend for an additional 5-months.

The Business Coach will report to the Senior Technical Assistance Associate and will work closely with Inclusive Action staff on other projects as necessary.


Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and support, in-person and virtual, information sessions on “loan readiness” and access to capital (3-4 information sessions per week reaching over 100 small business owners each week)
  • Conduct individual business coaching to formalize street vending businesses, including coaching for vendors to obtain permits, licenses, registrations, carts, and kitchen spaces. (goal of  ~30 permits/licenses etc to vendors per month).
  • Support IAC Technical Assistance team with monthly, in-person and virtual, business coaching workshops on specialized topics e.g. marketing, business planning, finances, and digital payments
  • Support in administering a business coaching curriculum that supports our clients' business goals. Curriculum may include workshops on marketing, business administration, and accounting;
  • Maintain accurate client and group coaching data, including attendance rosters, service surveys/evaluations, coaching notes, and borrower engagement information;
  • Support the cultivation of a creative, productive environment with Inclusive Action staff and its partners.  

Ideal candidates will have the following qualifications:

  • Associate’s degree in Business Administration, Public Policy, Public Administration, Economics, Finance or equivalent  work experience in the field;
  • At least three years of experience in case management, business coaching, client relations, data systems management, or business services;
  • Service oriented with an ability to respond to clients in a calm, empathetic, and professional manner while courteously directing the conversation to the pertinent issues;
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills;
  • Ability to work effectively with diverse audiences;
  • Strong written and verbal fluency in the Spanish language required;
  • Valid driver’s license or access to reliable transportation;
  • Interest in economic development, social enterprise development, community-based finance and/or popular education;
  • A positive, upbeat attitude that supports Inclusive Action staff and its organizational partners; and
  • Commitment to Inclusive Action’s mission.

Compensation

Inclusive Action offers a competitive salary commensurate with experience. The expected salary is $5,400/month, dependent on experience, for 6 months with a possible option to extend for an additional 5 months.

Currently, the Inclusive Action team is working in person at the office 40% of the time and remotely 60% of the time until further notice, and all employees must be vaccinated against COVID-19. The physical office is located in Boyle Heights and is available for necessary in-person appointments as well as an optional workspace. All applicants are expected to live in Los Angeles County.
