Description

Rainbow Railroad has created the Community Access Fund (CAF), a new granting stream for community organizations aiding LGBTQI+ asylum seekers and other queer migrants in the US and Canada. The  CAF offers aid to registered groups, unregistered groups, and mutual aid networks by providing flexible grants of up to $10,000, minimal reporting requirements, and funding for a wide range of community-defined needs. The funding is meant to support projects such as legal assistance, housing support, educational resources, emergency financial support, community integration, and expansion of existing projects that already serve displaced LGBTQI+ people. Eligible projects should aim to serve at least 50 individuals. The CAF is open to registered and unregistered groups, grassroots organizations, and community collectives in the U.S. and Canada. Organizations must apply by May 31 and must implement or expand their aid projects once funds are distributed. Grantees must write a mid-project report, in addition to a final narrative summary of how the funds provided community impact, report the total number of individuals served, and report on financial expenses.
