Description

Root Division is currently seeking 1-2 Latinx artists for the 2026-27 Latinx Teaching Artist Fellowship (LTAF). From September 2026 to May 2027, fellows must develop and teach art classes at partnering K-12 schools for two afternoons per week. The instruction in some of the schools is entirely in Spanish, so fellows must be fluent in both English and Spanish. Fellows must also have a minimum of one year of experience teaching or facilitating projects with groups, have a passion for working and supporting under-resourced marginalized groups, and have reliable transportation to the studio location in SOMA, San Francisco, CA. In exchange for teaching in the Youth Education Program, the fellow will receive a free studio workspace for 12 months, a stipend of $5,000 paid quarterly, meetings with mentors, exhibition opportunities in Root Division's gallery space, and networking in a community of over 30 Bay Area artists. Fellows are required to attend monthly Wednesday evening meetings and assist with two fundraiser events, the Art Auction in October 2026 and the Spring event in April 2027. To apply, applicants must pay a $20 fee, submit a cover letter, an artist resume, examples of artwork, an artist statement, two examples of lesson plans, and examples of successful projects with children. The application deadline is May 17.
