The Colibrí Fellowship in 2022, provides free legal training through cohort learning to Illinois nonprofit professionals to prepare them for Department of Justice (DOJ) accreditation. This fellowship program aims to train and mentor nonprofit staff, especially those from Black, Brown, and Immigrant communities, to become leaders and pursue partial or full DOJ accreditation. It seeks to promote DOJ accreditation as a legal career path, expand the presence of legal professionals statewide, increase the number of bilingual and bicultural professionals, and celebrate the contributions of those in the field.
