Description
The Madame CJ Walker Entrepreneurship Award provides up to $5,000 to five Black UCLA undergraduates, graduate students, or recent graduates for startups that positively impact the Black community. Applications are due January 30. Top applicants will be informed of a time for a presentation of their startup to the Fund's oversight committee on February 9. The business proposal must clearly outline the community need it targets, the plan to effectively respond to the issue, and the realistic goals of the business. Awardees will be selected on February 27. Awardees must attend the All Afrikan People's Graduation to receive their award in June 2026. All recipients must have an established and active LLC in place by the time the award is presented at Afro Grad, and the recipients must complete a community-based workshop for the Black Bruin Resource Center or for the Black Business Student Association.
